Our philosophy
What makes the Berlin School of Design & Communication (BSDC) special?

Special features in teaching

You study and research on real projects with practical partners from the fields of business, culture, politics and society. You will be supported by an above-average number of full-time professors and numerous professionals. We promote interdisciplinary exchange.

Strength in research

You can set up your own research projects or take part in existing projects and collaborations, e.g. in our Institute for Ludology (link). In line with our study profile, we also support artistic projects.

Campus

New thinking needs space. We offer spacious rooms, studios, open and creative spaces. Visit us at the Aufbau Haus and arrange a non-binding campus tour.

The environment

We discover, respect and promote the potential of each individual student. We impart professional, social and creative skills through continuous feedback processes and individual promotion. One of our main goals is to strengthen the ability for critical self-reflection.

The study programmes at our school are united by the fact that we always encourage and challenge our students. Encourage in their individual strengths and interests. Challenge in their thinking and creativity. We see ourselves as a place where the new, the unexpected or even utopian is created. Not only the obviously feasible.

Prof. Bettina Borchardt, Academic Director

For me, studying photography at the BSDC was perfect. I was challenged and encouraged. In my opinion, this is exactly what is needed in creative study programmes.

Martin de Crignis - Alumnus BA Fotografie

I chose the Marketing Communication course because it allows me to combine creativity and academic teaching: The lecturers succeed in illustrating abstract knowledge with examples from the industry and motivate us students to find creative solutions for challenging tasks.
